S-Adenosyl-Methionine Disulfate Tosylate(SAMe)

SAMe is S-adenosylmethionine (also known as S-adenosylmethionine, English: S-adenosyl methionine, abbreviated as SAM) with an activated methyl group and is a coenzyme involved in methyl transfer reactions. Present in all eukaryotic cells. After losing this activating methyl group, SAM becomes S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine (SAH).

S-adenosylmethionine was first discovered by scientists (Cantoni) in 1952. It is synthesized by adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and methionine in cells by methionine adenosyl transferase (Methionine Adenosyl Transferase) catalyzed synthesis, when it participates in the methyl transfer reaction as a coenzyme, it loses a methyl group to become S-adenosyl group homocysteine. Most S-adenosylmethionine is produced in the liver.

In higher organisms, more than 40 anabolic or catabolic chemical reactions involve the transfer of the methyl group of S-adenosylmethionine to substrates such as nucleic acids, proteins, and fats.

Efficacy:
